Yoga and Menopause Workshop

Therapeutic Menopause Workshop
Access the true power and wisdom of perimenopause and menopause
9.30 -12.30 Saturday 9th May 2026

Calderdale Yoga Centre
with therapeutic menopause coach Amelia Brunt and yoga teacher Alison Henning

Through this 3 hour workshop we will be combining the embodied practices of yoga with guided visualisations and journaling, with the intention of providing a space for you to connect to yourself, to be with what is present, to gain insight into what it is you need and how you might resource yourself during your perimenopause/menopause.  Ultimately, to give you food for thought… how might you keep connected to this innate state of ‘knowing’? How might this empower you?

£50 – includes tea/coffee and cake

Yoga is a multidimensional mindbody practice that can support physical, mental and emotional wellbeing throughout life – particularly at times of change. Through breathwork, movement, meditation, and philosophical study, there are so many ways of approaching, adapting or deepening the practice.  You don’t have to be or feel strong, well, healthy, happy or positive to find a way into in.  Your practice doesn’t necessarily have to take place in a formal class, or on a yoga mat.

All in all then, a great resource to support us through our perimenopause and post-menopausal years!  Specifically, a regular yoga practice can:

  • support our general health and wellbeing – through developing strength, mobility, flexibility, and through nervous system regulation helping to restore energy and emotional balance,
  • thus it has the potential to help with particular symptoms of menopause – e.g. insomnia, mood swings, mental health, joint and muscle aches and fatigue,
  • but also, maybe more importantly, it develops embodied awareness, deepening the mindbody and ‘inner wisdom’ connection.  This is the practice that we can take ‘off the mat’ and that can really support us navigating an authentic, compassionate and mindful course through all stages of our lives.

In addition, simple guided visualisation has been proven to support both mental and physical health throughout the lifespan but particularly during periods of transition and change. Equally simple, journalling also supports our wellbeing.

What should I expect?
This will be an (intentionally) small workshop.  We will hold a shared space for personal practice and reflection, there will be no group work and no expectation for participants to share personal insights.  All of the practices will be introduced and explained. Everything will be simple, adaptable and suitable for everybody. There will be some well-deserved time to relax at the end of the workshop for the group to chat with tea/coffee and homemade cake!

The yoga
The yoga practice will be adapted to the experience/requirements of the group – but expect a combination of pranayama (breathwork) and postural practice (asana). As befits the theme of the workshop, there will be a focus on building strength, mobilising the joints, releasing tension and regulating the nervous system – so some stronger standing work alongside some yin-inspired/restorative asana. Beginners are absolutely welcome.

The guided visualisation
Amelia will introduce and set us up for a beautiful, guided visualisation through the seasons of a cycle. In this safely held imaginal process we will access our inner ‘knowing’ and the resources we need to help us on our menopausal journey. No matter how discombobulated you may feel in your current experience, this is an opportunity to pause, take stock and uncover what it is that you need. After visualising ourselves within each season of a cycle we will pause to write or draw what has been uncovered or revealed to us (remember your notepad or paper and pen!). This is an entirely private and personal process. You will not be asked to share with others, unless you wish to over a cup of tea at the end of course! There are no expectations at all. You may just let your mind wander, even nothing is something.

To finish
We will finish with some simple yoga stretches and then invite you to stay for tea/coffee/cake/chat in order to close this special gathering in community together.

What to bring
Comfy yoga clothes
Notebook/pen
(note the yoga centre has plenty of yoga mats/props so you don’t need to bring your own)

Amelia Brunt – menopause coach
Amelia Brunt is a qualified and experienced therapeutic menopause mentor and coach with both The Menstrual Coach Academy and Red School. Amelia is also a specialist in complex developmental trauma and works across the helping professions to support people working directly with complex trauma and distress. It was Amelia’s own lived experience of the menopause process that led her to want to understand it more deeply than simply through the lens of the medical model alone. Davina has helped raise awareness but looking through a trauma lens Amelia knew there was more. Menopause is a time of huge transition that our culture doesn’t make time or space for.  A normal natural process which for too many has become an unbearable burden, or maybe just an inconvenience, but certainly no longer enabling business as usual. Amelia has integrated personal, professional and academic knowledge to develop the ReNEWaL™ programme. A programme of psych-education, tools, resources, training and 1:1 coaching for people wanting a more empowering and therapeutic approach to the menopause transition. https://well-educated.co.uk/
